Nana Baah Abu Okai IV, Agona chief of Aburi in the Akuapem South District has appealed to all chiefs in the country to use some of their earnings in the construction of cultural tourist centres in their traditional areas.
He said this would help promote tourism by assisting foreigners to know more about the culture and festival celebrations of the area.
Nana Okai, who is also Osiawuohene and Krow Wura of Aburi made the appeal when he and his people took Ghana News Agency round to inspect a Royal Cultural and Tourism Centre at Dumpong near Aburi, which he was undertaking as his personal contribution towards the development of culture in the area.
Nana Okai said the Royal Tourism and Cultural Centre comprises a chief’s palace, stool house, a residential unit and a cultural village where the youth, chiefs and foreign tourists would be enlightened on cultural issues such as the celebration of traditional festivals such as Addae and Odwira.
Nana Okai said the Royal Tourism and Cultural Centre would be completed within three years.
