Former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Tsatsu Tsikata has welcomed a decision by government to make the Osagyefo power barge operational.
After months of feet dragging and arguments about the potential of the Osagyefo Barge to generate electricity, the government has finally signed an agreement with a US based company to power it.
But Mr. Tsikata says many questions concerning the deal between government and US-based company, Balkan Energy remain unanswered.
For instance, Mr Tsikata wants to know why the barge will be powered on diesel and not gas from the Tano basin in the short term.
Mr. Tsikata, in an interview with Joy News’ Evans Mensah also wonders why the company is being allowed to pay Ghana an annual lease of 10 million dollars from the sixth year of its operation.
