Tigo challenges students to be purpose driven

Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Tigo Ghana, Obafemi Banigbe has challenged students to combine their courses of study with working as volunteers, and start developing their career before graduating from school. Mr. Banigbe was speaking at a Tigo organized Campus Storm seminar for University of Ghana Students on the topic; “Becoming Vision and Purpose Driven.” He encouraged the students to take charge of their own development by deliberately creating and following a vision that will bring them to their desired future. “You must start your courses of study with the end in mind by developing your skills in accessing information, in order to become not only academically but socially and emotionally intelligent,” he said. This he believed, would make the students initiators who change their world by making things happen. Mr. Banigbe stressed that the students must create an identity for themselves and network with like-minded people who would positively influence their future. Speaking on how to build a successful future at the same event, Chief Executive Officer of Youth in Social Entrepreneurship & Politics, Ekow Mensah urged students to nurture their entrepreneurial talents and abilities and develop their skills as they learn to excel in their academic programmes. While urging the students to identify and utilize the many opportunities available on campus, Mr. Mensah also advised the students to manage their time judiciously, save and start a business even as students. Chief Executive of Women in the Gap, Catherine Owindokwit stressed that students must start their university lives well in order to end well. She also tasked the students to be purposeful in whatever they do and in the relationships they find themselves. Mrs. Owindokwit admonished the students to test people’s motives before committing to a relationship with them. Tigo Campus Storm is an educational seminar aimed at providing tertiary students with survival skills and career enhancement tips. The Tigo Campus Storm is in its fourth year and has been held in Accra and almost every regional capital in the country with over 20,000 students attending.
