An Accra Fast Track High Court has subpoenaed two former officials of the Narcotics Control Board to appear before it next week Tuesday.
Former executive secretary of the board, Colonel Isaac Akuaku and head of operations, Ben Ndego are to testify in the ongoing trial of suspected drug barons, Kwabena Amaning alias Tagor and Alhaji Issah.
The court issued the subpoena at the request of lawyers for Alhaji Abbass.
Joy News has learnt that the subpoena was served on Ben Ndego and his boss through the NACOB earlier this week.
In his evidence to the court two weeks ago, Alhaji Abbass said he was recruited by Mr. Ndego to investigate ACP Kofi Boakye’s involvement in the cocaine trade.
Issah Abbass claimed he secretly recorded Kofi Boakye when they met at his residence where they had a discussion on the missing parcels of cocaine on the shipping vessel MV Benjamin.
The recorded conversation is now being used as the primary evidence to prosecute Alhaji Abbass.
His lawyers say the state has betrayed their client and insist Ben Ndego’s testimony is crucial to the determination of the case. Mr. Ndego and his former boss, Colonel Akuaku are expected in court next week.
