MTN invites all fun loving Ghanaians to come join the biggest family in Ghana as we pull together all friends and loved ones from the various secondary and tertiary institutions in the 2011 annual Old Skuuls Reunion at the Trade Fair Center in Accra this Saturday.
The MTN sponsored event, which has been running for years, today remains the biggest social gathering in the country attracting people of all ages and social status to one big venue for a common purpose, to have fun, meet old friends and make new ones. MTN has loads of surprises for all patrons who join in the fun to celebrate the good old days back at school.
Last year, some participating schools where given the opportunity to win laptops and internet routers for their schools. We congratulate, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, Okuapeman School, Apam Secondary School and St Pauls High Schools for emerging winners of the competition. This year, patrons who visit the La Trade Fair will have the opportunity to win some interesting data packages as part of the MTN data month campaign dubbed i-fest.
MTN Group has also launched the Apps challenge aimed at challenging people’s innovativeness in developing software applications that are inspired by the realities of Africa and the Middle East. The application to be developed should be user-friendly and relevant which will also be easily adopted on a wide scale in two vast markets hungry for local solutions. The competition will be running till the end of November 2011.
There are four monthly prizes for grabs now. Each month the first and second prize winners receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy S2 respectively. The coveted prize for the overall winner at the close of the competition is an all-expenses-paid-for trip to the Mobile World Congress 2012. Patrons at the Skuuls Reunion will be given assistance to upload their applications.
Other side attractions to be enjoyed during this year’s Old Skuuls Reunion is the creation of a special VIP old school stage purposely set up for oldies music where the look and feel will be like times of “yester years”
MTN has the communities in which it operates at heart and for this year’s Old Schools reunion a CSR slant has been added to the celebration. MTN together with the Multimedia team, made a donation to the La Traditional Council to build a library for the Community.
The team also donated an amount of Ghc5, 000.00 and some merchandised materials in support of the Homowo festival celebration with the aim of creating excitement for the festival activities.
MTN entreats all subscribers to make use of the 1p per minute rates on the MTN zone between 9pm to midnight when inviting friends to the Old Skuuls Reunion to catch up with old school days.
MTN also encourages old students to take advantage of the Mobile Money activations which will be at the grounds and register their schools so as to be able to contribute to their schools. The highest contributing school (GHC1, 000.00 and above) will get double the amount for their school.
