The bus driver who last Sunday ran into a group of early morning joggers killing two instantly at Awudome, in Accra, has given himself up to the Kaneshie Police.
Adamu Mohammed, 30, who absconded after the accident, was arrested and detained on Monday evening when he went to the police station with the owner of the Benz bus.
ASP Beatrice Mensah, Commander of the Kaneshie Police Motor Traffic Unit, told the Times on Tuesday that Adamu has been remanded in prison custody by the Motor Court to allow the police investigations.
Adamu who has been charged with reckless driving, is to appear before the court again on August 21.
ASP Mensah said Adamu's licence has been seized by the police, while his employer has been asked to produce all documents covering the vehicle.
Godsway Ahiakpor,18, and Debora Amoah, 11, who were among a group of early morning joggers, were crushed to death when the bus, ER 9815 C, ran into the group near the Awudome Cemetery on the Ring Road West.
Six other joggers sustained serious injuries and are said to be responding to treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
