Ashantigold manager, CK Akonnor, has praised his side’s performance after their heroic 1-0 win over Hearts in Accra.
The Miners continued their fine form in the second round inflicting on the Phobians their first home defeat of the season on the back of some delightful football.
Akonnor’s side were composed on the ball, compact in defence and a delight to watch as Hearts chased shadows at times.
After being applauded several times by the home fans, Akonnor could not hide his delight claiming it was part of the learning process.
“We dominated the game in every department, though we were threatened by Hearts at some stage but I'm proud as a coach. I’m learning, I’m improving and I want to go on do this at the highest level, it’s a journey,” Akonnor told reporters.
“That has been the target since I got here, I didn’t give up and I told the boys to shoot whenever they set sights at goal. The boys we brought in the second transfer window have remarkably helped improve the team.”
“Every week I push them to the limit and they also give their all. I'm very happy because it’s difficult to have players like that. They came with different attitudes, but we can only be proud of what we’re doing.”
Ashantigold remain 13th on the log with 25 points and have another tricky test upcoming against league leaders WAFA.
