A Cape Coast high court has placed an injunction on the bank account of Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam District Assembly for allegedly building a toilet on a disputed piece of land at Ajumako Bisease.
The freezing of the account followed a suit filed by a citizen of Bisease who claimed the land belonged to him.
Mr. Kenneth Obimpong, District Chief Executive for Ajumako/Anyan/Essiam, said this at a durbar of chiefs and people of Bisease to climax their "abangye festival".
He said lawsuit had made it difficult for the assembly to undertake a new project in the town.
Mr. Bimpong said the chiefs of the town gave the land in dispute to the assembly.
He said assembly spent millions of cedis to reclaim the land after it has been used as a refuse dumped for more than three decade.
Mr Bimpong said the assembly had embarked on a number of projects in the area of education, health, markets and roads.
He assured the chief and people that the promise made by the government to turn the Bisease secondary school into a modern school of the District would be fulfilled.
He said the Central Regional Coordinating Council had terminated a road contract in the town due to delay and shoddy works done by the contractor and had been awarded to a new contractor.
Nana Okofo Kwakora-Djan 111, Odikro of Bisease, appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor to fulfil the promise he made two years ago to upgrade the town’s health centre to a polyclinic.
He appealed to the district assembly to build a market and a lorry park to increase revenue generation and to create jobs.
