Gold Fields Ghana, operators of the Tarkwa and Damang mines in the Western Region of Ghana swept six awards at the 2010 edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards held in Accra on Thursday.
Gold Fields was adjudged the sector leader in the mining industry; the highest tax payer in Ghana; best company in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development and number nine Ghana’s leading company.
At a glittering awards ceremony held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, the CEO of GIPC, Mr George Aboagye remarked that Gold Fields had earned the well deserved and enviable position as a result of its sterling performance in the key criteria areas of contribution to national revenue, corporate social responsibility and leader in the mining sector.
Receiving the award, the Executive Vice President for Gold Fields West Africa Region, Mr Alfred Baku thanked the GIPC for the honour bestowed on Gold Fields.
“I accept this award on behalf of the management and employees of Gold Fields. I am delighted that Gold Fields has been recognized for its leadership role in Ghana. We will strive to achieve even greater heights, and will remain committed to growing our business, developing our local human resources and improving the quality of life in our environment."
