Obviously, it is a common revelation to the normal Christian, that Christ has paid our debts of sin. Christ came to pay for our sins and just our sins and nothing else. Whatever held us bondage is already taken off.
Some few days ago, whiles surfing on the internet, I saw a video in which a man of God was telling his congregation God will pay their financial debts for them. I will not rob God of His ability to do that. But, is He going to do it?
I think the principles of God concerning the finances of the new creation believer must be properly taught to take many Christians out of poverty. It is the will of God that we live a prosperous life, but only through His word. The mentality of everything happening by some miraculous event must be eliminated. We must prosper, but how?
The package of salvation in Isaiah 61, rightly says that we will eat the riches of the Gentiles. He says, strangers shall build our walls. We are not beggars; we own everything. So why must we be in debt? Debtors are slaves.
Proverbs 22:7
"The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender."
So it is not palatable for a Christian to pile up debts on himself. We cannot be slaves to the Gentiles anymore. There are many disadvantages of being in debt aside being a jail sentence for us. Being in debt can even make you a liar and a crook. Borrowing should not be an option of a believer.
Romans 13:8
"Love Your Neighbor owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law."
Owe no one anything. A believer cannot continually be in debt. How can you build wealth if you pile up debt on yourself? Technically if your debts outweighs your assets, you are a poor man. God has given us principles of avoiding debts and being able to do all that we want to do in His time.
Luke 14:28-29
"For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him."
Do not do anything above your means. Do not live outside your capacity at anytime. It's good to dream big, but dreams are fulfilled in the time of life. If you hastily do anything you might end up borrowing every time. Many dreams are unfulfilled because of hasty decisions. It is unfortunate many claim they have the Holy Spirit but are not led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not owe any one and will never begin something and not be able to complete it. The Holy Spirit is wisdom as well.
God doesn't pay financial debts. Yes he can conspire things to favour us but money is of the world. He has provided us all the spiritual gifts needed to win in the world. God doesn't conjure money into anybody's account. He blesses the works of your hands.
Many Christians, especially in Africa are chasing miracle from church to church, yet they are not rich. The thirst for quick success is breeding a lot of fake churches all over the continent.
When the pastor needs a drum, he asks the congregation to buy it and yet promises the same congregation miracle money. I believe in miracles but there are things God won't do not that He can't do it.
Matthew 5:25-26
"Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny."
Jesus says, agree with your adversary. When you owe someone, arbitrate with the person now and pay. He didn't say pray against the person. He is not saying go for miracle money. Pray, but work to pay. God will make the provision through your labor. He is a principled God. The Gentile will take you to court and the word is saying that you will never come out until you pay the last penny.
Today there are pastors in jail who are serving their full sentence because they are not being persecuted for righteousness sake. They are in jail because they did what is unjust, God has blocked His ears to their cries.
If I am a believer and you come to credit from me and I need my money, you surely must pay me. It is as simple as that. As you pray that the debt be cancelled, I am also praying to God that you pay for my business to move on, what will God do then?
Simply avoid debts. Jesus is no more paying debts. God is a just God. He is not bias towards any man. Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is God's.
