Five time champion David Zigah anticipates facing stiff competition at this year’s Accra Milo Marathon after the announcement of improved prize monies for the highest performers.
Winners in both male and female divisions will pocket 10,000 cedis. The first runner up will bag 7,000 cedis and 5,000 cedis for the second runner-up.
Zigah, who last won the title in 2006, knows there are high expectations of him to clinch the ultimate. He told JOY Sports, “Every eye is on me and I am still training. But now, because there is a lot of money at stake, everybody is training seriously and everybody is
expecting to win.”
Over 6000 runners across the country will compete in the 42.2-Kilomtere race in the marathon scheduled for September 21.
