Newly appointed Great Olympics coach Ken August has slammed the Ghana Football Association’s policy to recognize only coaches with the requisite certificates.
The ex-Power FC trainer disagrees that good coaches are necessarily made from the classrooms. He has attributed the country’s recent slide in international junior competitions to poor coaching.
Ken August wants the FA to relax the rules of the certification of coaches in the country.
He told JOY Sports, “I always disagree with FA where they are rushing people into the national team. Some of them I don’t want to mention their names. They claim they have got some level of certification. Some have the talent and it is only good to add the certification. Some also don’t have the talent and experience but have been rushed through courses and are holding certificates.”
Coaching courses organized by FIFA and CAF in the country have seen over 150 coaches trained and the FA wants more unlicensed coaches especially in the lower divisions to enroll for the upcoming courses slated for this year.
