Pharmaceutical companies and distributors who supply drugs to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are withdrawing their services.
This is because the hospital owes them millions of cedis.
Hospital officials say the situation is seriously affecting delivery of essential drugs to patients.
Public Affairs Manager at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Kwame Frimpong admits the problem but denies it is crippling the hospital’s operations.
“The arrangement has always been that we buy the drugs on credit and then we pay as we go along. Our drug availability rate is 85 per cent which means that all the essential drugs that we need to operate as a hospital, 85 per cent is available in the hospital,” he emphasised.
