Sulley Muntari has revealed the Ghana Football Association lied to the public claiming the governing body did not call to solidarise with him after being subjected to racial insults in Italy.
Muntari suffered racial insults from Cagliari fans whilst in action for Pescara in a Serie A clash. The former Ghana international walked off after match ref booked him for dissent after complaining he was being racially abused by fans.
The decision was widely criticised with Fifpro United Nations, KICK IT OUT - football’s equality and inclusion organization, and some former and present Black players offering support and calling for Muntari’s suspension to be rescinded but the GFA were mute.
And finally revealed on the fifth day after the incident that they had called to empathize, but according to Muntari that did not happen.
“No they didn’t.”
“No I wasn’t” adding “one thing is that I am not a victim. I can handle myself. I can handle my situation. I’m not there for anyone to call and have pity for me. No. I was in, I can handle my situation and I go out of it.”
