The National Sports Authority has confirmed that Ghana will participate in 16 sporting disciplines in next month’s All Africa Games.
Of the 16, the male and female football teams are on tour in South Africa and the Athletics team in Daegu, South Korea for World Athletics Championships.
The strategic selection of this year’s contingent is expected to bring about improved performances at the multi-sports event.
Speaking to JOY Sports Dennis Mirpuri, Chief Sports Director, Erasmus Adorkor said, “Athletics had given us a little bit of problems in the past few years but now I think the level of revival is evident for everyone to see and this is one area that we hope will increase our medal prospects.”
Athletics, football, Amateur boxing, disabled Sports, Table Tennis and Hockey are among the few expected to improve the country’s 23 medals hauled at the last edition in Algiers four years ago.
