Assistant Coach of Berekum Chelsea, Orlando Wellington has urged the Premier League Board to ensure pitches at all match venues are in good state before the start of next season.
According to the national under-20 head trainer, most of the pitches used during last season’s games were sub-standard and denied many players the opportunity to display their skills.
This directly robbed fans of quality entertainment at match venues during league games last term, with many supporters refusing to return to the stadia to watch the local game.
Coach Orlando Wellington, who picked up the Premier League’s Best Coach award for last season, told JOY Sports' Dennis Mirpuri, "if you have good pitches, you will get good football. Most of the time, if we don't play on good pitches, it worries our players a lot, because, we have only about four or five good pitches and when you are going to play the ball, you can not play it on that very good pitch every time. So, one way or the other, you may not exhibit good football when it is demanded from the supporters."
Meanwhile, Coach Wellington is looking forward to a cordial working relationship with Head Coach Steve Polack, who returned to the country yesterday after an illness, for their title defence and the qualifiers of the CAF Champions League.
