The Supreme Court, Presided over by the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Georgina Wood, has set November 14 to determine whether a ruling by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) against the former Transportation Minister, Richard Anane should stand or not. The High Court presided over by Justice Baffoe Bonnie quashed CHRAJ’s adverse findings against Dr. Anane in the case in which he was investigated for abuse of office and conflict of interest in his dealing with his American mistress, Alexandria O'Brien. The High Court said the Commission had no jurisdiction in the matter especially in the absence of a formal complaint, and was therefore wrong in making the adverse conclusions against the then minister, who resigned his post to go to court in a bid to clear his name. Dissatisfied with the court’s ruling, CHRAJ filed an application at the Supreme Court for interpretation of its jurisdiction or the lack of it in matters not formerly complained to it. The court has therefore set the November 14 date to make a ruling.
