Management of Ghana Commercial Bank and the Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers are meeting over agitations that threaten to bring banking activities to a standstill.
The workers are kicking against intended reforms, which they fear could lead to job losses and a variation of conditions of service.
The union has had to step in to address workers grievances after staff of the various branches Monday wore red armbands to show their displeasure.
Management and union officials are tight-lipped, but Joy Business has learnt that talks are ongoing to reach an amicable agreement.
In a related development, executive members of the NPP youth wing in the Eastern Region have kicked against what they say are attempts by the government to sell GCB and they have subsequently kicked against what they claim are attempts by the management of the bank to hand over its operations to auditing firm KPMG.
NPP regional youth organizer, Eric Annor Dompreh accused the government of not only wanting to sell the bank but also lay off some workers.
