Help train professionals – Churches urged

The outgoing Eastern Regional Minister, Yaw Barimah has appealed to religious organisations to help in the training of professionals who would be ready to work for the progress of the country and would not use their knowledge to "blackmail" society. He noted that even though Ghana produced good professionals the country faced the danger of loosing their essence due to their poor moral standing. Mr Barimah was speaking at the 10th anniversary and Fifth Biennial Conference of the National Council of the Anglican Men's Fellowship at Koforidua. Delegates from all the Anglican Dioceses in the country are attending the four-day-conference under the theme, "Ten years of Anglican Men's Fellowship - past, present and future". The Minister called on religious leaders to condemn and expose what he called the "madness of religious fanaticism". The Joint Anglican Diocesan Conference (JADC) Bishop in-charge of Men and Women Desk, Bishop A. Brient, advised men to avoid violence. He noted that violence in families was on the increase that a law on domestic violence had been passed to help check the canker since without peace in the home, there could not be peace in the society.
