Madam Sonja Schaffler, a German trainee at the German Embassy has inaugurated an office block with equipment worth over 73 million cedis for the Volta Regional Association of the Deaf in Ho.
Madam Schaffler, who represented the German Ambassador, urged the association to work on its public image by bringing others who are begging on the street to join the association.
S.K. Asare, National President of the Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD), urged members in the Volta Region to work hard for their socio-economic development and should not depend on society for their livelihood.
"You must not come and sit at the office from morning to evening thinking someone would bring you food, the office alone does not bring everything, you must go out and work for yourself and your family", he said.
Maxwell Dzadey, Volta Regional President of the Association, blamed society for putting impediments in the way of people living with disabilities by not giving them employment.
