Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has pledged massive support for new Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to succeed.
Appiah officially begins work next month after being handed a two-year contract to handle the local Black Stars and the senior national team.
The minister heaped praises on the former AS Khartoum man and has no doubts Appiah has the credentials to achieve his targets.
“He’s got the pedigree and experience over the years and is a very humble gentleman,” the Minister said.
“Ghanaians generally love him, and as government we will give him all the support that he needs to succeed, so that he can win more laurels for Ghana. That is our job.”
“I believe in local content and that is evident in the appointment of Kwasi Appiah. We have not just appointed a local coach, but a very competent local coach.”
“We supported Avram Grant and he got nothing for us, so how much more the man [Kwesi Appiah] who took us to the World Cup.”
Kwesi Appiah’ first assignment as Black Stars Head Coach will be a tricky friendly against Mexico in June.
