Fifa clears goalkeeper Kwarasey to play for Ghana

The World’s football governing body Fifa has ratified the nationality switch of Norway-born goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey to play for Ghana, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. Kwarasey, whose father hails from Navrongo in the Upper East region of Ghana, declared his intentions to represent Ghana three years ago. Early this week, re-elected Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi promised to use his contacts in Fifa to fast-track the process. In October last year, he obtained a Ghanaian passport and that payed way for his switch. He is likely to take the place of ageing Black Stars gloves man Richard Kingson who has come under intense criticisms for his poor displays in recent matches. The 23-year-old is in top form and has the height to claim the position as Ghana’s safest pair of hands. But Kwarasey must fend off competition from locally-based goalkeepers Sammy Adjei and Ernest Sowah who are also being considered for the Black Stars goalkeeping job. The Strømsgodset first choice turned down invitations to play for Norway’s under-21 side in 2008 with the hope of playing for Ghana. Source: Ghanasoccert.com
