A Ho Municipal Tribunal presided over by Justice Essel Kofi Mensah has dismissed a writ filed before it by two Steering Committee members of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the Volta region.
The writ sought an interlocutory injunction restraining Prince Ahiadzro and Nii Adjetey Sowa, the CPP regional chairman and regional secretary, respectively, from organizing or holding meetings in the name of the Party.
The plaintiffs, Sosthens Simon Sakyi, identified in an affidavit as the Acting Regional Chairman and Eli Kotoku Elikem, regional treasurer in a writ filed on May 1 this year, alleged that Ahiadzro who had earlier resigned as regional chairman, colluded with Adjetey Sowah to organize meetings for and on behalf of the Party without authority.
The Regional Chairman later rescinded his decision to resign after the Party's national steering committee appealed to him to stay on.
In dismissing the writ, the presiding Judge pointed out that the CPP's constitution restrains executive members of the steering Committee from settling disputes in court.
He imposed GH cedis 500 (five million cedis) in damages on the plaintiffs.
