The Mankranso magistrate's court has granted a 46 year-old farmer bail in the sum of GH cedis 1,000 (10 million cedis) for allegedly making false complaints to the police at Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North district.
Nana Yaw Ofori pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 7.
Prosecuting Police Inspector Francis Asante told the court, presided over by Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on June 4 this year, Ofori reported to the police that Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem I, paramount chief of Tepa and his brother had stolen his sawn timber boards valued at GH 200 (two million cedis).
He said the next day, the accused lodged another complaint that the chief had threatened on telephone to kill him.
The prosecution said Ofori was asked to produce witnesses to back his allegations but he failed and after thorough investigations, it was found out that his claims were untrue.
