Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) has announced it is proceeding with Guinness Football Challenge TV show and Consumer Promotion programme.
The announcement follows the dismissal of a motion for an interlocutory injunction brought by the National Lottery Authority seeking to prevent GGBL from proceeding with the Guinness Football Challenge TV show and Consumer Promotion on the basis that they were lotteries.
A statement by Guinness said it was pleased to inform all contestants, contracted stations, studio audiences, celebrity guests and the general public that the programme was to proceed.
Mr. Ekwunife Okoli, MD of GGBL, said after the ruling that “GGBL has always held the principle that the two Guinness activities are legitimate consumer promotions and not lotteries and thus GGBL is pleased that it can continue to entertainment and reward its loyal consumers through the Guinness Football Challenge TV show and the Consumer promotion. Thus consumers and the general public should rest assured that GGBL will strenuously defend the substantive court case brought against us by the National Lottery Authority.”
“Thus Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited is pleased to inform you that your favourite TV show, Guinness Football Challenge will be back on air again on Thursdays on TV3 at 8pm; Fridays on Joy Sports on Multi TV at 8pm; Saturdays on TV Africa at 6pm; and Sundays on Metro TV at 8pm. So don’t forget to tune in.
“We have also resumed the Guinness Football Challenge Consumer Promotion and invite you to submit your entries to stand the chance of winning up to GH¢5,000 if your number is selected in the weekly draws AND you are able to answer a football question correctly”, the statement said.
