The out-going Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyeman, has made it clear that when given the mandate as the flag bearer of the NPP he will provide dynamic and purposeful leadership and at the same time be the servant of the people.
According to him, he will go down to the grassroot to identify the problems the people are facing with them and together find a solution to rectify those problems as currently being done by the President, Mr. J.A. Kufuor.
Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyeman stated these in an exclusive interview with The Chronicle after hosting constituency executives in the region who were in Koforidua for a three-day strategic planning workshop to a breakfast at his residence at Effiduase on Sunday.
"I come from a long tradition of commitment and dedication to the party and believe I have demonstrated all that it takes to provide the dynamic, purposeful and a servant leadership that I desire to be and hope our party members and the entire people of Ghana have accepted me already", he said.
He said as far as what will happen in 2008 elections are concerned, that was why he declared his intention to contest the presidential election primary therefore handing in his resignation to the President in order to conform with the rules of the game which insisted that he must relinquish his position.
The outgoing Minister prided himself of very good works done during his tenure, including advanced works to reach people in places where water lack, and also ongoing housing projects to solve the housing problems many citizens are currently facing in the country.
Mr. Owusu Agyeman's presidential campaign team has toured each constituency thrice but he personally has done 212 constituencies nationwide interacting with people and party executives where sentiments received from the fields, according to him are quite positive indicating that they have accepted him.
Comparing the NPP and NDC governments, he said there is a big difference between the two looking at what the present government under the leadership of President Kufuor has achieved since it came into power in 2001.
About the planning workshop, he said it was to strategize for the 2008 elections and in his view, looking at the strategies and campaign systems being adopted, there was no doubt that the party would emerge victorious in the next election.
He urged party members to support him, given hi good track records of achievement, dedication and commitment to the party.
