A 21-year-old pupil teacher, Eric Akpablah Selasi has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 14 year old student.
Selasi after some time attempted to visit the victim in her house but was identified and was arrested.
He was charged with one count of defilement and the court presided over by Iddrisu Mahamadu remanded Selasi until June 18.
Presenting the facts Chief Inspector Lawrence Gbele said the victim (name withheld) lives with her uncle in one of the bungalows of the Nsawam prison.
Selasi is a science teacher of a preparatory school at Medie and resides at Sapeiman near Amasaman.
The prosecutor said while the victim and other students of the same school were preparing to write their 2006 – 2007 BECE examination, they were instructed by the school authorities to come and stay in the school premises for effective learning.
Selasi took advantage and had sexual intercourse with the victim on three occasions. When the proprietor got to know about the incident he informed victim’s uncle and later reported the matter to the Amansaman Police.
Chief Gbele told court that, on May 4, this year Selasi and another teacher visited the victim in her house but luck run out for him when the victim identified him in the presence of her uncle.
He was immediately arrested by the uncle and handed over to the police.
