Newmont Ghana says it is excited by its first quarter performance.
The company says it has managed to produce in excess at less cost and is committed to improving upon its operations for the remainder of the year.
Senior Director, Environment and Social Responsibility, Dr. Chris Anderson told Joy Business even though there have been a few challenges, the company is satisfied.
“It’s all going well; our Akyem project has begun construction in the Eastern Region,” he said.
On power supply, the mining company says it has put in place contingency measures that will enable it operate even without electricity from the national grid.
Mr. Anderson said more must be done to ensure alternative power supply.
Mr. Anderson was speaking to Joy Business during the opening of a ten-day training programme for non-financial journalists in economic reporting.
