Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya has pulled out of the race to face Kwesi Nyantakyi for the FIFA Council seat which means the Ghana FA president will only contest Tanzania's Leodegar Tenga for the sole place.
The Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Bwalya threw in the towel on Friday for the single place reserved for the Anglophone Group within CAF.
Kalusha, 53, withdrew citing the need for unity as the key reason for his move.
“I took the decision for the sake of unity in world football,” Kalusha said.
“I would like to wish both Tenga and Kwesi all the best in the upcoming elections.”
Nyantakyi now faces a fight against Tenga, who is being backed by CAF President Issa Hayatou, as he seeks to be maintain his position at the powerful council.
The elections are scheduled for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 16th March 2017 during the 39th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF.
