The Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw appears to have become a soft target for armed robbers.
The robbers storm the wards at night and rob patients and staff of their belongings including money and mobile phones.
Last month, three separate robberies were reported at the emergency, maternity and female wards.
Two days ago, another incident occurred at the children’s ward. A patient who narrated her ordeal said she is traumatized by the incidents.
“He approached me at the ward and asked of the nurse on duty. I declined to respond. He picked a purse and moved to the next room and picked another patient’s bag. He pulled a knife when an alarm was raised,” she said.
Joy News sources say though the hospital authorities are aware of the attacks, no formal complaint has been lodged with the police.
One nurse who wants to remain anonymous says they feel threatened especially at night.
“We have some security men around but they don’t have any weapons,” he indicated.
When the robberies were first reported last month, the Medical Superintendent at the hospital Dr Kwesi Amuzu promised to beef up security but nurses claim that hasn’t been done.
Meanwhile the Nkawkaw police say it has not been informed about the robberies.
