Brazil coach Mano Menezes has affirmed that Ronaldinho's career with the Selecao is far from over despite his decision to leave the playmaker out of the squad for next month's friendlies. The ex-Corinthians trainer called up 28 players for two friendlies against Netherlands and Romania, which will be played on June 4 and 7 respectively. One surprise in the list was the omission of Flamengo number 10 Ronaldinho, who had featured in previous Menezes squads and who lifted the Carioca championship earlier in 2011. The coach explained why the playmaker has not made the preliminary squad for the Copa America, and insisted that his mind could be changed if Ronaldinho's performances improve. "Regarding Ronaldinho, it is generally agreed that it is not the right time for him. If he is going to rediscover his best form that depends only on Ronaldinho. The expectations when he moved to Flamengo were high, and so far the fans have not been happy with the end product," Menezes explained in an exclusive interview with Globoesporte. "Therefore, if the fans become more pleased with his performances they are going to want him in the Selecao. If that happens and things change, the coach is also going to want him in the squad." Marcelo was another surprise absence from the list, after impressing in 2010-11 with Real Madrid. Mano asserted that he was worried that playing the attacking full-back could unbalance his team in defence. "Let's look at the question of the full-backs. You have to have balance on both sides. In Daniel Alves we basically have another forward, so you need to think of the formation of a team and think carefully about that," he revealed. Menezes finished the chat by turning his attention to Neymar. The 19-year-old capped another man of the match performance on Wednesday night by providing a stunning assist to set up a 1-0 victory for Santos against Cerro Porteno in the Copa Libertadores semi-final. His national team trainer was delighted, and did not hold back on the praise for the player who will be leading his Copa America forward line. "For me, a 'crack' is someone who decides the game when everyone expects him to. Neymar is without a doubt heading towards becoming one of these. Now, to become this crack we believe he has the potential to be, he has to show his skills at the next level," he pointed out. "The opportunities are going to come now with the Brazil team, with Santos in the Libertadores because they are extremely demanding situations. Things will start happening now on another level for him." There are only five weeks left for those excluded players to impress Menezes, with the Copa America getting underway on July 1.
