Paul Nukunu of the Achimota Golf Club returned a net score of 71 to win the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) Open Golf Championship at the Golf Course of the Cocoa Research Institute at Tafo in the Eastern Region over the weekend.
He was followed at the second position by David Nazareth with 72 net, George Osei took the third position with 75 net, while Osei Cobbina placed fourth with 79 net.
In the Ladies category, Mona Captan came first with 90 gross followed by Joy Arkutu second position with 94 gross with Victoria Adjei taking the third position with 95 gross.
Kofi Yeboah won the Junior’s event with 73 net followed by Kwabena Yeboah at the second position with 75 net, while Joseph Daglo took the third position with 77 net.
The One-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which was opened to amateur golfers throughout the country, formed part of activities marking the 60th Anniversary celebrations of COCOBOD.
Professor George Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association thanked the company for sponsoring the competition and appealed to them to support other Golf Clubs to develop.
Charles Bernard Ntim, Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) of COCOBOD said the event formed part of the company’s corporate responsibilities to the communities in which they operate.
He advised the staff of the Cocoa Research Institute to take active interest in the sporting activities especially golf adding that it would go a long way in helping them remain healthy at all times.
