Mrs Patience Arthur-Badoo, the Manya Krobo District Director of Education has appealed to parents in the area not to prevent their children from having access to education by exploiting their labour.
"Those parents giving their children out as cowherds and shepherds should put a stop to it", she said.
Mrs Arthur-Badoo said this in a speech read on her behalf at the inauguration of a 1.3 billion-cedi school block for the Apimsu Junior Secondary School.
The projects, which included a block of three classrooms, an office and a store, furniture, teachers' accommodation and library books, were financed by Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO).
George Cobbinah Yorke, the Program Area Manager of the NGO, said Plan aimed at helping children to realize their full potential.
Casely Ato Coleman, the Acting Country Director of Plan, said the NGO entered into partnership with the community 13 years ago during which it had carried out projects to raise the living standard of the people.
"Malaria, diarrhoea, high infant mortality rate, pregnancy and its related problems and high water borne diseases have dropped significantly as a result of interventions provided by Plan Ghana", he said.
