Defeated Emperor Narh promises brighter future

Defeated Super Lightweight boxer Raymond Narh has apologized to Ghanaians for a rather poor outing in Saturday night’s clash against Mike Alvarado. The bout was expected to be the renaissance for the former Commonwealth gold medalist but was technically knocked out before the 4th round could begin. Narh, popularly known as The Emperor was clubbed to submission in the third round and refused to heed the referees' call for the beginning of the fourth, leaving the referee no choice but to crown the American as winner of the bout. The Ghanaian boxer told Joy Sports’ Daniel Oduro he felt dazed with “double vision” at the end of the third round and could not continue. According to him, he should not have honoured the bout in the first place because he felt sick and pale, days before the bout. He maintained it was out of love for the country and the desire to put his name and country back on the world boxing map that pushed him into honouring the bout. He however apologized to all Ghanaians for the humiliating defeat but was hopeful of a strong comeback. He explained the defeat may well come as good omen as it will then encourage other boxers who had hitherto feared to fight him to do so. He described the defeat as unfortunate but promised a brighter future. Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
