Avram Grant presented a 26-man provisional squad on Monday for camping in the United Arab Emirates ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon excluding Fatau Dauda.
The newly signed Enyimba FC goalkeeper despite training with the team during the four-day non residential camping in Accra training at was overlooked for Razak Brimah, Adam Kwarasey, and Richard Ofori.
However, News broke on Wednesday morning that Fatau Dauda has been recalled to the Black Stars as a replacement for Kwarasey.
''Yes, I have received a call up and I am likely to leave today (Wednesday) to the UAE,'' Dauda is quoted by Ghanasoccernet.com
But why always Dauda for Kwarasey?
After the 2012 AFCON, Kwarasey was replaced by Fatau as number one after the Norwegian-born keeper was suffering from psychological issues.
This led to Dauda being in goal all through till the 2013 AFCON as well.
In 2014 at the World Cup, Dauda again profited from Kwarasey's misfortune after the coach, Kwesi Appiah, inexplicably dropped his number one because he said the defenders were more comfortable with the former AshGold 'keeper.
If this history between the two is just coincidence, then it is a very strange one indeed.
