Fei Sakyi, headmaster of the Roman Catholic Primary School at Bonsu in the Nkoranza district of Brong Ahafo, has urged opinion leaders to ensure that all children of school-going age in their communities are enrolled in schools.
He expressed concern about the many children outside school who were often found roaming the streets during school hours.
Mr Sakyi said this when he took the Ghana News Agency round to inspect an on-going six-classroom block project for the school, estimated at GH 70,000 cedis (700 million cedis) and funded by the GETFund.
"With the introduction of the capitation grants and the provision of furniture, school uniforms and exercise books by the government I see no reason why some parents should deny some of their children education", Mr. Sakyi stated.
The headmaster called on parents to stop their children from attending video shows and other unproductive social activities and concentrate on their education.
