Dreams FC gaffer Charles Kwabena Akunnor has described as unfortunate his side's demotion to the second tier league after an excellent debut season in the Ghanaian topflight.
The club was demoted after the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) reviewed an earlier decision brought before it by Tema Youth.
Dreams used an unqualified player in a Division One League game against Tema Youth in the 2014/15 GN Bank Division One League season in a game they won by 2-0. But the initial ruling went in favour of Dreams.
Tema Youth pursued the matter to FIFA's Court of Arbitration for Sports which ruled that a new Appeals Committee panel must be set up by the GFA to hear the case of the Tema-based club against Dreams FC.
“I called the players and asked them to show up at training grounds.” He told Asempa FM. “Our demotion is something very unfortunate but we have to accept it.
“We have accepted the decision by the FA and we don’t have anything to do than to accept it. The management has spoken to the players and as a coach i have to be loyal and I believe it was good for the management to speak to the players.”
