Meteors hopeful of Olympic survival

David Duncan insists Ghana can still make the next round in the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympics despite their first leg defeat to Sudan. The Black Meteors' hopes of reaching the Olympics looks to have hit a bad patch after Sudan stole a 1-0 win in Accra last weekend. A 92nd minute goal by substitute Martin Wani Khamees condemned Ghana to the shock defeat ahead of the return leg tomorrow in Omdurman. Duncan has bolstered his squad with some fresh call ups and is very confident of their chances of overturning the deficit. “It’s not what we requested for that we have but the players we have are good enough to deliver. We did not do badly in the first leg but we did not just take our chances,” the Black Meteors coach said. “We are approaching the game with all the seriousness it deserves. We have to cancel the deficit from the first leg as quickly in the game as possible. It’s going to be tough but it is possible for us to pull a surprise and turn the tables.” Source: Ghanafa.org
