A five-member Reconciliation Committee of the Wassa West District Assembly has resolved the impasse between the Apintohene, Nana Kwabena Angu, and the assembly member of Awudua Electoral Area, Mr Samuel Kwofie.
Led by its chairman, Nana Anor Kyei, the committee arranged a meeting between the two at Awudua after which an amicable solution was found to unite the two who had been at loggerheads for some time now.
According to Nana Anor Kyei, Mr. Kwofie was alleged to have written several damaging letters about Nana Angu to the Wassa West District Assembly.
However, all the letters according to Nana Kyei were baseless and without foundation.
Mr. Kwofie who showed remorse and could not prove the authenticity of his letters admitted guilt and apologised to Nana Kwabena Angu.
The Wassa West District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu, who is a member of the committee reprimanded Mr. Kwofie for what he described as acts of insolence and sabotage, "crying wolf where there is no wolf."
He advised that there should be co-existence between the chiefs and the Assemblymen to facilitate development in their various communities.
On behalf of the District Assembly, Mr. Ayensu apologised to Nana Angu and said appropriate action and sanction would be taken against Mr. Kwofie for his disrespect for the chieftaincy institution.
