The Executive Director of HFC Bank has described as unreasonable the high rent charges in the housing market.
Akwete Akita argues that the trend takes home ownership far beyond the means of many Ghanaians.
He is therefore encouraging banks to step up their game and make mortgage financing more attractive to the public.
Mr. Akita was speaking at the first draw of the HFC Home Save Promotion to reward a customer with a 2 Bedroom house.
He said although there are enormous demand for housing, the country had failed to address the need.
John Arhinful Mensah won the first 2 Bedroom house at the draw held yesterday.
The Home Save promotion launched in September last year, is designed to reward loyal customers who make deposits towards owning houses.
The Bank is giving away a total of three houses valued at several thousands of cedis.
