Virgin Atlantic was named the “Travel Brand of the Decade” at the Travel Marketing Awards last night, its second major award within a week.
The prestigious awards, organized by the Charted Institute Marketing’s Travel Industry Group, are a showcase for the most creative and successful marketing work across the industry.
This year a special “one-off” award for the most iconic travel brand of the decade was up for grabs, and went to Virgin Atlantic.
Judges said they were honouring Virgin Atlantic for its “exceptional reputation amongst consumers, overall brand strength, distinctive cheeky and fun personality and innovative and reliable product offering”.
The award completes a remarkable marketing double for the company, after it collected the ultimate prize – a Golden Arrow, plus a further four Silver Arrows – for its “Your Airline’s Either Got It Or It Hasn’t “ advert at last week’s British Television Advertising Awards. These are one of the advertising industry’s most illustrious prizes.
Virgin Atlantic’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Paul Dickinson, said “Winning two such prestigious awards for our marketing work is a great tribute to the Virgin Atlantic marketing team and to our agency partners.
“The success of the company has always impacted on our fantastic brand and the way in which we communicate it and what it stands for to the consumer”.
“By consistently investing in excellent marketing over recent years, we have ensured that the strength of the Virgin Atlantic brand is higher now than it has ever been, and we will continue to work to keep it as an industry leader”.
