More than 100 structures along the banks of Chemu Lagoon in Tema, have been submerged following a heavy downpour at dawn on Thursday.
Most of the squatters took refuge on top of their buildings to avoid being drowned, unfortunately however, unconfirmed reports indicated that two children got drown.
Properties were washed away while the street leading to Tema Manhean was flooded making vehicular movement difficult.
Ebenezer Charway, Director of Galaxy Oil Gas Filling Station, said the company's permit and other documents were destroyed and appealed to Government and managements of industries in Tema to dredge the lagoon to save life and property.
The lagoon a source of livelihood for the people of Tema Manhean has outlived its usefulness due to industrialization and activities of squatters along its banks.
