An unidentified armed robber has shot dead a youth, Kwasi Sampson, who attempted to rescue a lady from being raped at Mantukwa, near Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Chief Superintendent of Police Christian Tetteh Yohonu said that at about 2100 hours on June 28, the armed robber stormed a Total fuel filling station at Mantukwa and took the manager, six attendants and two female friends hostage in a room.
He said the robber collected seven mobile phones and eight million cedis from them.
Chief Superintendent Yohunu said the robber then took one of the ladies outside the room, locked the rest inside and stripped the lady naked in an attempt to rape her.
The shouts of the lady for help attracted the deceased to the scene but the robber shot him dead and escaped with his booty.
The police commander said residents who heard the gunshot rushed to the place and took him to the regional hospital in Sunyani but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
