The Mfantsemanhene of Kumasi, Nana Arkorful Owese, has advised queen mothers in the Central Region to help resolve marriage problems at the traditional and law courts to minimize divorce cases.
The Mfantsemanhene who was addressing a cross section of Queen Mothers who paid a courtesy call on him at Apam said divorce in the region especially Apam was on the ascendancy.
He noted that this created an adverse impact on the education of school children.
Nana Arkorful advocated the formation of marriage counselling units in their areas to deal with marriage problems, teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and other social vices, adding that, as experienced mothers the nation counted on them to leave a mark of recognition.
Nana Ama Amissah III, Queen Mother of the Mankessim Traditional Area, on behalf of the queens thanked the Mfantsemanhene for his advise and gave the assurance that they were ready to redeem the image of women in the Region.
Nana Amissah, who is also the Founder of the Mankessim-Enyan Abaasa Development Foundation (MEADF), said the doors of the organisation were wide open to Queen mothers and women for the progress, development and welfare of the area.
