Hundreds of information hungry journalists besieged the AU Summit grounds on the last day to know the outcome of the grand debate.
For close to six hours journalists were kept waiting at the foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre in order not to miss the last briefing from the Summit.
While some thrust their voice recorders at delegates, who themselves looked visibly tired to know what was transpiring in the main auditorium, others positioned themselves at strategic positions to get an exclusive with the heads of states themselves.
When it dawned on them that the leaders were engaged in heated debate and that the summit was not near an end, some had to resort to the bare floor to take a respite.
Although some gave up and left, the patience of those who waited paid off.
At about 11.25 pm the debate was over and a declaration was issued.
