Vodafone Ghana took the Western Region by storm during the Independence Day celebrations with a series of thrilling entertainment and promotional events.
“This significant move marks the beginning of an exciting relationship with the residents of the region that Vodafone has purposely planned out for their benefit,” a statement from the company said.
The events included a bicycle race and various games, a health screening exercise, a beach jam and an exclusive highlife concert.
The statement said the bicycle race, which took place on Independence eve, March 5, 2011 from Beposo to Jubilee Park, saw each participant taking home a token cash prize from Vodafone.
In addition the first to fifth position winners took home fantastic prizes ranging from 32-inch TV sets, cash prizes, mobile phones and DVD players.
The statement further said on Independence Day, 6th March, Vodafone organized day of health screening and games, where children enjoyed bouncing castles and special treats.
The events culminated in two music concerts – a beach jam with some of the top hip-life artistes in the country, and an invitation-only high-life Concert featuring some of the finest in the country.
The massive beach jam at the Last Hour Beach in Takoradi saw ground-breaking performances by Eazzy, Asem, Atsu Koliko, Old Soldier and Guru.
The Vodafone highlife concert in the Western Region, which was in partnership with Melody FM, also featured legends of the game such as Pat Thomas, Kofi Bentil, Papa Yankson and Kwabena Kwabena as well as the Oil City Band, at the GHAPOHA Club House in Takoradi.
