Rana Motors and Good Year Tyre in collaboration with Total Ghana have brought the Vulco state-of-the-art one-stop-shop car wheel serving concept to Ghana.
The three companies have jointly launched a number of Vulco Serve Centres at selected Total Filling Stations across the country.
At the opening of one of such centres at the 37 Total Filling Station in Accra, the General Manager of Good Year, Mr. Octavian Velcan explained the centre will offer complete quality car wheel and alignment services at very affordable rates.
He said the centre is a one-stop-shop for high quality wheel services and all brands of car tyres, so customers would not need to go for other services anywhere else once they visit the Vulco Centre.
“We are offering a better quality at competitive prices because our intention is not to fight the prices on the market but to offer better quality service as the same price,” Mr. Velcan said.
General Manager of Rana Motors, Vinay Kapoor said similar Vulco centres have also been opened at Total filling stations at Osu, Takoradi, Adenta, Spintex Road, Kumasi and other parts of the country, adding that five more are yet to be opened this year.
“What is critical is that we are not an expensive centre – we only offer state-of-the-art service at competitive prices and create a serene atmosphere for our customers to relax whiles we fix their wheels,” he said.
He said the opening of the Vulco Centre is part of a campaign to rid the country of used tyres, the wrong fitting of wheels, and the several road accidents they cause.
Mr. Kapoor noted that 75 per cent of the car tyres imported into this country are used tyres, which have been rejected from the countries of origin because they have only 20 per cent of what the quality a new tyre has.
“Statistics from the National Road Safety Commission shows that 50 per cent of motor accidents are caused by vehicles with used tyres and wrong fitting of tyres so we are starting a nationwide campaign in April to stop the importation of those tyres,” he said.
He said the campaign would be sustained over a period of two years to reduce unsafe vehicles on the roads to the barest minimum and ensure safety.
Retail Network Manager for Total Ghana, Mr. Abdul-Rahim Siddique said Total was committed to road safety and believed that joining hands with Rana Motors, Good Year and NRSC would deliver the desired safety.
