The Nsuta circuit court presided over by Uuter P. Dery has imposed a total fine of 2.4 million cedis on four persons for acts tending to disturb the public peace.
Kwadwo Adjei, 22, carpenter, Frank Amankwah, 18, George Owusu, 19, and Owusu Awuah, 22, barber, pleaded guilty and were fined 600,000 cedis or in default six months imprisonment each.
Police Inspector Solomon Etrew told the court that at about 2230 hours on March 3 this year, Adjei and Amankwah attended a wake-keeping at Dawu near Asante-Mampong and met Owusu and Awuah at a drinking spot where a quarrel ensued between them.
He said the accused persons inflicted cutlass wounds on themselves and when they were separated, they rushed to the Jamasi police station and made a report against each other where medical forms were issued for them to attend hospital for treatment.
Inspector Etrew said during investigations it was realised that they fought among themselves and disturbed the public peace and were therefore charged with the offence.
