Some residents of Kumasi defied the cold weather on Thursday night to welcome Libyan leader Muamar Al-Gaddafi to Kumasi, the Garden City.
Colonel Gaddafi's convoy arrived at about mid-night from Cote d'Ivoire through the Bono Ahafo region. Members of the public who stayed on the streets to catch a glimpse of the Libyan leader said they were delighted to witness his entry though they did not see him personally.
Several others had left in disappointment after waiting for hours.
Joy News’ Samson Lardy Ayenini reported that Col. Gaddafi is expected to visit the Manhyia Palace to meet with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Currently, he is expected at the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to commission a hostel project.
