Sorry tales of rich footballers who have neglected their relatives are not new phenomena especially in Africa.
Recently, Ghana’s own Michael Essien was in the news when his father allegedly told the media about his poor state of life and health due to his son’s lack of concern.
The latest player who has been accused by his family of neglect is Togo and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor.
The 26 year old who guided Togo to the 2006 World Cup is said to have sacked his family from the house he rented for them and has recently failed to give his mother money for her upkeep.
His elder brother Peter Adebayor told Joy Sports the family was quite close and each time Adebayor was playing in a match every member of the family will be the stadium to give him moral support.
Peter said things started to take a different turn when his brother returned from the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
He claimed the Real Madrid star attempted to beat up their mother in the presence of his friends but he (Peter) resisted the attempt and defended their mother and infuriating Adebayor in the process.
He said following that fight, Adebayor sacked him from the house and refused to support him.
